The Hollywood icon shared an astonishing story while promoting her new movie, The Last Showgirl. “Once, during a flight, a man approached me and asked, ‘Do you know what this country has done for you?’” Anderson recounted.
She admitted she was baffled by the question, but the situation quickly escalated when the man became aggressive. Thankfully, a flight attendant intervened just as he attempted to lunge at her. “I remember thinking, ‘Oh, my God. What did I do?’” Anderson said, recalling the terrifying moment.
“The stewardess ended up having to handcuff him to his seat because he was trying to attack me,” she added.
The Blonde and Blonder star later learned that the passenger had mistaken her identity. “Turns out, he thought I was one of the Dixie Chicks,” Anderson said, referencing the country music group's highly publicized controversy.
The incident she referred to involved the band’s outspoken criticism of the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003. During a concert, lead vocalist Natalie Maines declared that they did not support the war and were “ashamed that the president of the United States is from Texas.”
